Steeped in history and tradition; this unique, matchless chess set features two of the oldest and proudest tribes in South Africa, going back to their roots in the conflict for territory over fertile land. Two separate groups of people, each with their own language, culture, rituals and traditions; both living and thriving off the lands of South Africa.
This superior quality Zulu/Ndebele Tribal themed chess set brings you closer to the core of the African people as you take on the roles of some of the most influential tribes in South African history. The Ndebele and Zulu people would hand-craft their own clothes. Certain colourful garb would indicate a woman’s marital status or that a man was to soon be wed. Buildings were sculpted and painted differently to indicate to others the rank of the owner. Hunters and warriors would fashion weapons from hard materials such as wood or stone. Jewellery would be woven from reeds with hours of care, devotion and skill. These are but a few of the marvels of the traditions that were followed by these ubiquitous tribes of Southern Africa. It’s the magic of this authenticity, the richness of this heritage and the grandeur of their tales that Gala Star captures in this Zulu/Ndebele Tribal themed chess set.
